Background

The Student Loans Company spends c40 million each year on a wide range of goods and services. We aim to ensure that opportunities for business reach as many potential suppliers as possible and to make it easy for them to engage with us. This includes making best use of available technologies to

  • ensure information for suppliers is easily available,
  • streamline the purchase to pay process
  • encourage competition for the business opportunities that are available
  • facilitate electronic tender returns

These pages aim to explain what you need to do to if you wish to become one of our suppliers, provides information on current and past opportunities, and lists useful contact points.

We publish notices on this portal giving suppliers instant access to tender opportunities and lower value request for quotes (RFQs).

The Student Loans Company complies with the requirements of the EU procurement directives and follows contract regulations which regulate how we buy works, services and goods. These regulations promote competition and ensure potential suppliers have the same clear understanding of the requirements. It also

  • provides clear public accountability a clear record of the process
  • provides a level playing field against which to judge the market
  • is the best way of ensuring value for money
  • provides a sound base for a properly constructed written contract

If the value of a contract is over the current EU threshold we are required to place an official notice in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Potential suppliers will be able to express their interest in any of the advertised opportunities.
